I have a website that I thought might be perfect for the eBay Partner Network affiliate program (EPN), so I filled out the application and waited for my acceptance.
While I was waiting, I installed the EPN WordPress plug-in, expecting to be able to get started promoting eBay products pretty quickly.
I like eBay, and thought I’d be bringing some good value to my website visitors.
But low and behold, about a week and a half after I applied to be an EPN affiliate, I received this email from eBay, rejecting my application:

I was really surprised that I was rejected, because my site has great quality content. So I tried to contact the eBay Partner Network customer support department to find out why they reject my website.
Interestingly, I discovered that there was no link to a customer support department on the EBN website. There’s no way to contact anyone there.
Hmmm, I thought. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a legitimate affiliate program that doesn’t want you to contact them.
So I began to do some investigation on the web, and discovered that EPN has been regularly ticking off their affiliate and potential affiliate partners.
There are many, many people like me who have been rejected and have never been able to find out why.
And there are many, many people who were affiliates in good standing, only to get banned from EPN for no reason.
At this point, I don’t even care why EPN is doing this. I just know I will never do business with them, and I urge you to stay away from this affiliate program.

i went to the dark side a long time ago. the money is unreal, and i actually feel good about beating the man at a game where he makes the rules to benefit only him. “do no harm” do you actually believe that crap? google is the man! wake up and smell the coffee. i know people that spent years building up an epn portfolio and with no explanation lost their business in an instant from those vultures.
google/ebay/paypal are the enemy and it’s an all out war. white hats make me laugh sometimes. wait until you lose your adwords/epn/CJ account with no explanation. your lily white hat will turn black faster than you can say “luke i am your father” lol

I have been an eBay affiliate for just under a year and after a lot of hard work was just starting to make some decent money. Yesterday I had the dreaded ‘your account is linked to a banned account’ email and $2000 for last month and $700 for this month reversed.
I have never had an account banned, I have complied with their TOS very carefully to avoid being dumped and this is what I get. Just before Xmas too.
No proper explanation that I could fight against and no warning.

You will amazed how good Ebay affiliate program works. I have used it some years ago and it was far more profitable than Adsense. Unfortunately gives great results only for the US audience of your website. It is a very good alternative income source that could be used in conjugation with other affiliate programs. All the above seemed to be active for almost every website that had joined EPN. During the last 3 months Ebay changed their TOS and banned thousands of websites. I have personally deactivated my account before the storm started. I don’t know what is happening, but the truth is that all these don’t stand with the recognition and good fame that Ebay has accumulated over the years. I hope something changes…
It really seems a shame that such a good program has turned into such a problem for so many people. It would be great if eBay got their act together and made their affiliate program work again for their affiliates.
I sincerely hope Ebay will come to its senses and stop this nonsense and start appreciating all the hard work that the Ebay affiliates are doing. But it wouldn’t be the first time a large dot com corporation screwed itself and its affiliates to the point they went out of business.
I don’t even know why eBay doesn’t want anyone to contact them regarding these issues. It seems like real honest sites are losing out on from this.

I also find that eBay is going worse now they have also banned my account and when I called the customer care dept asking for the reason they didn’t make it clear why they have banned my account and told me to wait for 15 days to get the answer.

Thanks for the information, I wouldn’t like to invest my time and resources just to find out that I got banned! I also agree with some of the points that don mentioned, there are some tactics we should implement, which are mostly grey hat, even without getting our website banned.
This is really surprising that ebay would do that and id really like to know why they reject applications. At least there are some alternatives like amazon and other similar sites.
I also wonder if existing affiliates have suddenly been kicked out of the program? Maybe accounts are getting banned and applications denied because of the niche they are in.
