If you’re serious about affiliate marketing, you’ll want to make sure you “cloak” your affiliate links to ensure that you actually get credit for the sale.
When you “cloak” or hide your affiliate code, no one can hijack or bypass your commissions by putting their own affiliate ID’s into the code or deleting your affiliate links at the end of URLs. (It’s estimated that affiliates lose up to 30% with “open” affiliate codes.)
There are a number of ways to cloak your affiliate code, but I’ve had problems with all of them except for Jim Edwards’ Affiliate Link Cloaker. If you’ve been reading my postings, you’ve probably notices that I have a lot of faith in products created by Jim Edwards. And his software lives up to my high expectations.
It’s a very simple process to cloak your affiliate code. You just enter your affiliate link code into the Affiliate Link Cloaker software, enter a name for your new html page (usually the name of the product), click “Create Page,” and upload the html page to your own domain (you do have to have your own domain or host in order to use this software.)
The affiliate page now appears as if it is residing on your own website, giving your customer a more secure feeling, preventing anyone from stealing your code,
You’ll be able to get your affiliate page ranked in search engines too, because the software also allows you to enter a title for your page, a description, a meta keyword, and body text.
My Verdict: Using Affiliate Link Cloaker is a no-brainer for me. It’s easy, and it works really well. Just remember that you must upload the cloaked page to your own domain or host.
