Frankly, I’ve never seen most of them work. Oh, you might generate some money, but in most cases, you end up spending a lot of money and get little return on your investment.

Every day, I get emails telling me about the next, great way to make money on the Internet.

I guess that’s to be expected. In a way, we’re all looking for the brass ring, and it’s tempting to take a chance on new methods.

In the frenzy to generate income, though, we often forget the tried-and-true methods – like mini-sites.

I’ll say it right now – mini-sites aren’t sexy. They’re just very basic, simple one to four or five page websites. But they work.

Why do mini-sites work? Because they’re targeted to a niche audience interested in a specific type of product. A mini-site is designed to either build a targeted mailing list, sell your own product, or sell an affiliate product. You can also use a mini-site to quickly test product concepts.

There’s landing pages, and squeeze pages, and opt-in pages…a lot of different forms of mini-sites.

Of course, like everything, you need to learn how to design mini-sites that work. Like all direct response methods, there’s a right way to do it and a wrong way.

And make no mistake about it, it is a learning process that takes time and effort.

Jim Edwards is one of my favorite Internet Marketing gurus, and I bought and used his home study course before I set up my own mini-sites. Maybe I could have learned the techniques on my own, but I doubt it.
